GameVault is a web hosting provider catering to computer gamers by offering web
hosting packages featuring online game servers. To coincide with the launch of their
website, GameVault wanted identity elements to perpetuate their image as a leader in the
field.
Objectives
Because GameVault deals primarily with gamers, the logo needed to communicate the
high-tech aspect of the company. We also thought it would be a good idea to incorporate
network links to a central location into the image.
Solution
We developed the logo from the idea of servers connecting players. Circles,
symbolizing people as nodes in a network, are connected to a box, symbolizing a server
and a vault. The logo mark is colored orange and titled to add a more high-energy feel.
The identity is based on visual elements in the logo along with the use of
non-classical approaches, such as the use of vertical text on the business card rather
than the classical horizontal design. This was appropriate for GameVault.com to create
a technical and futuristic mood in the design. We also chose a color scheme that appeals
to gamers. The last element in the system is the use of diagonal lines, which provide a
sense of movement or speed (shown best in the letterhead).
