Website DesignBackground
C I Host, one of the nation's leading web hosting providers, created the
Association Benefits program to encourage associations to offer web hosting as a
benefit to their members. By offering discounted services to organizations, C I Host
can use their existing infrastructure to easily grow its client base.
This website would be the online headquarters for the Association Benefits
campaign. It provided information for interested parties to learn about the program
and to enroll. Marketing materials prominently featured the website, driving traffic
and generating interest.
Objectives
In order to ensure this campaign was successful, Association Benefits had to
communicate its message in a very efficient and impactful way. Anyone viewing the
website will want to know what Association Benefits is all about, but time is
valuable (on average, a user spends less than 15 minutes on a website or 43 seconds
on each page).
The site also needed to be visually interesting. This is important to creating
interest in the site itself. When a user wants to navigate through a site, the
content has a much greater impact.
Solution
We made several design decisions to help communicate the Associations Benefits
message. First, we created a design consistent with the Association Benefits
corporate identity. This helps a visitor feel secure and develops trust in the
company by visually demonstrating stability. An inconsistent design looks
unprofessional and decreases confidence.
Another important concept was the reinforcement of ideas through the use of
photos, headings and other visual elements. Small, well-defined regions of content make
it easy for a viewer to find information that interests them. Bold areas of text,
bulleted lists, and flash animation all play an important role in drawing a viewer
into the site.
